How many smudges can you make...

Apologies for the poor photos, once again it is dark and wet here, the card and sentiment are straight in real life, honest!
They were selling Altenew stamps on the telly at the weekend and so I thought I'd dust off my peony bouquet set and have a play. I used my brilliance dew drop pigment inks and although it doesn't show in the photos there is a soft sheen to the stamped images. I built up the image on an A5 sheet of clarity stamping card and yup, managed to get some inky smudges on the card. Fussy cutting to the rescue!
I started off with an 8x8 card blank and added a lighter blue mat. I embossed a piece of darker blue card and a square of white card using the Tonic Rosalyn A4 embossing folder. I layered them up and added some ribbon across the join. I used the debossed side, cos yep, random black mark on the other side!
I stamped the sentiment from Lili of the valley handwritten sentiment set and added a pale blue mat behind it. I added the sentiment and the main image to the card with 1mm foam tape. It needed "something" and so I added a few sequins. In true form, I managed to splatter a bit of glue on the card, which wouldn't come off and so I added a few more sequins than I intended! Honestly, I came *that* close to having to add a butterfly!

  1. I'm so glad to read that I'm not the only one who had "smudgy" days. Great rescue job though on this lovely card

    1. And I'm back to say thank you for the heads up on the missing thyme - that's what I get for writing up recipes at the crack of dawn!
I'm diabetic too, so I'm always on the look out for savoury or less-sweet treats. The scones are lovely without the lavender butter and topped with some Philly cheese!

  2. Gorgeous card Cara and I have to admit I've had to stop counting - it depresses me too much especially when my arms start to twitch and the project ends up on the floor or I've knocked over the water pot on something I've been working on for hours, grrr! Your card is gorgeous huni Karen xx

  7. Beautiful blue peonies Cara, the sentiment is real good, and looks straight to me, well sometimes pictures don't do justice to the cards, and I know in real they look much better at times, I have had those moments too!

  8. Just wanted to start by sharing that your photos are so very much better than mine lately. I think they look great. Now, if i could just get mine to look like a square rather than a twisted corners weirdo...then I would be happy!

Your card is very pretty and your fussy cutting looks great. I have fussy cut away many a smudge, let me tell you. Your sequins are pretty and sparkly!
