Snowflakes

Happy Sunday, even if it is getting a bit late. Hopefully the weather is good where you are, yesterday was very windy here resulting in an unexpected visitor in the garden...

Next door's pop up gazebo decided to "pop" over the fence! They were out at the time and looked rather bemused when they came home, fortunately no harm was done apart from a few squashed strawberries.
A very simple card today, over at Sparkles Christmas Challenge, they want use to use snowflakes. I'm actually a little embarrassed to enter this card as it's so simple, but it's great to get to hear about different challenges and add them to my reading list. (Speaking of great fun challenges I was thrilled to be spotlighted over at Sweet Stampin this week)
I probably don't need to tell you how I made this card, other than that I used gold shimmer paper and the church bells die from the Create and Craft Couture Celebrate Christmas collection! I made a mistake by using paper (even if I do love it - it's from Lime Tree Crafts and I got it at the Bolton craft show) as it's too flimsy to add dimension to the holly leaves that are cut so that you can do just that. I was a bit bemused when I saw the dies on TV as I saw that there seemed to be a lot of spare metal to the side of the die. I realised when I used it that this embosses into the card so that if you use the cutting edge you can fit this snuggly into the line to get the cut in the right place. Hopefully you can see what I mean from the picture.
I finished it off with a bit of Tonic's white Nuvo glitter drops where the berries would be and on the clapper (if that's what it's called) of the bells. Very simple and I think these would be great as a batch make.

  1. Yes I was wondering about the extra metal on the side of the die, thanks for explaining it. The gold looks very striking against the white and as you say a good design to make batches of this very effective card x
