Many Happy Returns

Phew, it's warm! I've spent most of the day melting and the rest of it trying to stop the bunnies melting. Black fur onesies aren't that good in hot weather, poor things.
I had wanted to do some more screen printing today, but I need to iron the things I'm printing onto first and it's way too hot, especially as I have my own medication fuelled microclimate these days.
I did manage to do a tiny bit of heat embossing though as AAA cards want to see a resist technique used.
I started off by marking in pencil where I wanted my strip to go on the kraft card and then stamped my sentiment from a Clearly Besotted set in versamark and heat embossed in white embossing powder. I was tempted just to leave it out in the sun rather than use my heat tool, but sanity prevailed!
I masked off the strip with paper either side and stamped the butterfly from the Uniko set in versafine before heat embossing it in white. I then replaced the masks and blended Distress Oxides in Broken China and Wilted Violet over the butterflies, wiping the ink off the embossing although it stained slightly.
I then mounted my panel on a white card blank and added 3 pearls. I covered up where my masks had moved slightly on the panel by edging it in white pen, obviously I wasn't going for the perfect straight line effect!
The card still needed a little something and so I fussy cut one of the butterflies off my rejected attempt and added it to the card to finish. I hope you're all keeping cool, especially if you're working in this heat x

I'm not usually a fan of Kraft card but I love what you have done with this to make it look so feminine and pretty.
I'm still hot now at this time of night.

  6. Hi Cara, a super card, love the torn edge of the butterfly panel, which was a surprise to read that it was white pen, I totally thought it was intended. Hope you and your bunnies are keeping cool, very cold here just now, but at least there is a small patch of blue sky... have a wonderful week... Megan

  10. Hello Cara, we are also melting away, take care of those bunnies, our guinea pigs are inside at the moment because their are 3 little ones who can get through the fence lol. Your card is beautiful, like the wonky line, and the color of the oxide, first thought it was bought paper, and butterflies are always a win with me, Vicky

  13. Gorgeous card Cara, I think I really need some of the Oxide inks great effect with the kraft card very pretty.
When I used to breed/show guinea pigs I used to freeze drinks bottles full of water and wrap them in towels to put in their cages.
