Happy Birthday

It was my Dad's birthday yesterday, my neck has been playing up this week and so I rustled up this quick card for him as he loves steam trains.
I used the All Occasions Flying Scotsman die and cut it out according to the instructions out of glossy black and green card and also out of silver and gold mirri card. It doesn't show well on the photo, but it also embosses some details into the card, as the card was 300gsm, these showed well without using an embossing sandwich. The die also includes the train numbers for the Flying Scotsman and the rails to sit it on, but I decided not to add them this time. I have to confess that the train is bit fiddly to assemble, but with the help of a bit of tape holding things together on the back and a cocktail stick with glue on the end it came together. I stamped the sentiment from Clearly Besotted in black archival ink and added mats of the leftover green and back to finish on a 6x6 card base. Simples!

  7. Hi Cara,
what a excellent card and I love this design.
So worth all the effort in putting the train together.
My DH used to be a fireman on the railway when he was a young man many moons ago.
You take care with you neck as I ignored mine, and then got a slipped disc in the top of my spine, and oh my gosh that was so painful.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

  17. Fantastic card for your steam train loving Dad, I bet he loved it. It must have taken forever to put together with all the elements! That sentiment is wonderful, I love it, is it me or does it feel formed from steam? Cx

  18. Love this one too, we used to visit steam railways when I was a kid and we'd go on camping holidays. It left me with a love for the trains and railways but a loathing for camping Karen x
