Whoops, sorry that this post is late, Mr Blogger was obviously not playing ball this morning!
I can't believe that it is September already! Still, as today is Saturday it's time for our latest challenge over at Sweet Stampin' and this week we want to see heat embossing on your project.

My crafting was hindered this week as Hubby spent the bank holiday weekend harvesting and bottling the honey from his beehives in the kitchen. I usually craft at the kitchen table, but it was covered in sticky honey (I swear it got absolutely everywhere, my slippers were sticking to the floor as I walked - took me back to some student pub memories!) and buried under honey paraphernalia and hidden behind over 200 jars of honey. Hubby eventually cleared a small space for me to work in and so I rustled up this card.
I started off with a rectangle of kraft card and made a circular mask with a post it note and a circle die. I then stamped the butterflies which were a freebie with Docrafts Creativity magazine a while back, in versamark. I then heat embossed them with white embossing powder. I replaced the circle mask and blended distress oxides in broken china, cracked pistachio and worn lipstick through the mask and then buffed them off the butterflies to create a resist effect. I then used a white gel pen to define the edges of the circle. I heat embossed the lili of the valley sentiment in white. I mounted it in a white card base and added some nuvo drops in glossy white to finish. I can't wait to see what you come up with for this challenge, just remember to include some stamping and heat embossing!
It's a lovely card Cara and I love the colours. Barbxx

ReplyDeleteMmmmmmm I love honey, though I sympathise with the mess! I've some great memories of sticky floored pubs too, good job there were no i-phones back then to record the evidence ;)
ReplyDeleteLovely butterflies, your background is fab!
Such a pretty card Cara, when I first saw it I thought the butterflies were stamped on vellum as the blending is fabulous :)

Beautiful and very striking card!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Cara and no splodges of honey! Love the inky background and your clever masking to create the circle. Such a pretty card hun. Hugs, Wends xoxo
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, I love Distress Oxides on Kraft and you can get so many different looks with them too. Your butterflies are stunning, I too assumed you had stamped and embossed onto vellum and then fussy cut to add them. I can't say anything about the honey, as I only use it now and again but I imagine it took some scrubbing to get rid of the stickiness Karen x
