Fab n funky - flowers

Let's get the formalities over with first - I'd like to enter this card in the Fab n funky challenge - flowers.
A happy accident led to the making of this card. I subscribe to Simply cards and Papercraft magazine (nothing to do with the offer of 12 free spectrum sparkle pens). I got an email from them this week apologising for sending out the wrong free gift with issue 148. It should have been a rose stamp and embossing folder but by accident they sent out the free gift due with the next issue. So, if you fancy getting this Altenew clear stamp set and dies, buy issue 149 when it comes out on 21st April!

As usual I forgot to take a pic before I took the stamps off!
Back to the card. I don't have many coloured ink pads and so I used red geranium archival ink and used the second, third and fourth generation stamping. I found it easiest to start with the smallest stamp section to line up the image. I used first, second and third generation stamping of olive archival ink for the leaf. Although dies are included I fussy cut them all out. I ran round the edge of the roses with an alcohol pen. I assembled the card with tattered lace square and pearl square layers and added the centre flower on foam tape. The sentiment is from a Winnie and Walter set.
As I had a few bits left over I made another card. This time I used Tonic pin dot circles and squares and used the sentiment that came with the set.
I hope you're all enjoying Good Friday, the sun even came out for a bit here in Lancashire! I'll be back later to share an Easter oldie.

  1. Hi Cara, We've had some sun here in Yorkshire too today but the sky's now turning grey as I write! Many thanks for the heads up about the Altenew stamps and dies, I bet they'll be as rare as rocking horse droppings but I'll definitely be on the look out for them. I've recently started a new board on Pinterest for these stamps as I love them so much. You have done an absolutely amazing job with them here. I really love the colour combination on your first card and it really doesn't need any thing more than the word 'Love.' The pretty pink border co-ordinates perfectly with your roses. I love the simplicity of the second card and the paper pricking adds a beautiful touch. Thank you so much for the very kind and generous comment that you've just left on my blog. You have lots of talent Cara and I can learn much from you too! Wishing you a Happy Easter and lots of happy crafting x

  2. What a nice prize. You've stamped the layers of rose beautifully. I also like the fact they're the main feature of the card.

  6. Cara, it took me a while to process that the flowers were stamps, I thought they were printed embellishments!!! Such beautiful cards, the second one made my jaw drop a bit. Amazing that is a freebie, I hope its out when I come to London next month. I just got a great stamp set similar to this in my Simon Says Stamp kit. Cx
