So the challenge over at Butterfly challenge is to add buttons with the optional colour choice of bronze. Now I don't have many butterflies and certainly not statement butterflies in my stash ( I know, appalling right, and certainly something that needs rectifying) but in the words of Baldrick I had a cunning plan...
I didn't have any bronze items but I used that as a starting point for my colour scheme. I started off by painting an mdf heart (dreamees I think) with umber and warm stone chalk paint. Once dry I stamped little butttons and butterflies (freebies from magazines) in vintage photo and aged mahogany ink. I sacrificed a butterfly off my water bottle from the weekend that was in a browny card and sponged on some topaz starlight paint. I also sponged 3 white buttons with the starlight paint and edged the mdf heart with it. Once dry the butterfly had a bit of a crease in the middle where I'd pulled it off the bottle so I bunged some gems down it. I then assembled the heart with some additional gems, pale brown roses and a couple of old die cuts that were lurking in the box of "shove in any possibly useful bits when tidying up" bits. Finally I added a bit of gold organza ribbon to hang it from.
