How can it be raining all day, but still be roasting hot?! Ah, the joys of the British Summer.
Today's card started off with a clarity honeycomb mask which I spritzed through with water and then added cosmic shimmer pixie powders. These are similar to brushos and colour bursts, but have mica powder along with the dye powder, hopefully you can see the true colour and sheen better in the second picture.
After it had dried I die cut it with Simon says stamp stitched rectangles and then stamped on it using the latest stamp set from Hunkydory in versafine ink. I stamped the sentiment on a seperate piece of card and die cut it with the free hexagon dies that came with the last issue of the Crafters Companions Inspiration magazine and mounted it on foam tape. To add a bit of texture to the 6" square Kraft card base I embossed it with the hexagon border embossing folder that also came with the Crafters Companion magazine. Job done!
Hubby is off playing with his bees at the moment, there's new queen cells in the hives which mean that they are going to swarm soon when the weather is good and he's putting up boxes for the swarms to move into. He can then trap them in the box and move them into an empty hive, thereby increasing the amount he looks after. Rather him than me!
Gorgeous card! I've had a lovely day out in a garden absolutely humming with beutiful bees, some very unusual ones too, and coming home to see this post was a real treat

I really like how you've used the honeycomb theme throughout the card Cara. The embossing looks great and the sheen gives it that extra dimension. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Sandra X

Very creative Cara, I love how you have carried the honeycomb through to the craft base card, and the pixie powder creates just enough colour.

Hey Cara...so as predicted the weather was horrid when I landed yesterday AM. But no matter, happy to see my parents and my Dog. I love your card, I like the slightly offset hexagons and the gold shimmer / sparkle. Your hubby has a myriad of fascinating hobbies, what an interesting life you guys lead. Hope you are having a nice weekend. Chops are about to be consumed here in London, so all is well for me Cx
ReplyDeleteOh wow, what a beautiful card Cara - I LOVE the shimmer from your golden honey :)
ReplyDeleteA great card. I particularly like the diagonal use of the embossing. You have inspired me to use my CC free dies and embossing folder. I so envy your husband's hobby. I am forever rescuing bees from my greenhouse but would love to give them a permanent home.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely ADORE this card. I love everything about it. What GREAT gifts to get with your magazine.
ReplyDeleteHope all goes well with the swarm!
Hugs, Sarn xxx
