With love

Well, yesterday's appointment went well, eventually. I checked in at the main reception at the hospital to be told that I was a day early for my appointment! Not according to the letter that I showed them. She suggested that I went down to the clinic and ask. The nurse there pulled up the appointment letter on the computer and said she'd ask the consultant if he'd squeeze me in rather than have to get time off work and Hubby take time off again to take me. She came back and said it was fine and then when I saw the consultant he said I was on his clinic list for that day and it was just the computer system that was wrong! The outcome was more injections and an appointment to follow for some more radio frequency nerve lesioning. At least it means that they haven't given up on me yet! I had today off to recover and managed to get a little crafting done this afternoon.
I had a play with my tattered lace zig zag card die set. It certainly makes cutting the card shape a doddle. There are several matting and layering dies included in the set, but being picky they are only in two lengths as hopefully you can see in the picture and I would prefer to have them for all the sections rather than them use the space for flower embellishments dies etc. My other gripe was that some of the sentiments have not got enough space left on the end of the banner to stick it down. I'm sure you could use a bit of acetate to sort that though.
I used some purple card for the base from my stash which I'm guessing is about 350gsm, but it cut perfectly. The panels were from a Lucy Cromwell for papermania pad which have some glittering on them although it doesn't show up well in the photos. The butterflies were cut with my all occasions die, but everything else was cut using the dies in the kit. I added some flat "gems" to the body of the butterflies to finish - it would have been easier to do this before adding the butterflies to the card in hindsight!
The pearlescent lilac card that I cut the some of the butterflies and the sentiments from was in the bit box so I'm taking this card over to Snippets playground. Hopefully the treehouse has a leakproof roof given the current weather!

  1. Glad all went "well" at the hospital. Yes it is purple your card and just gorgeous too.

    crafty hugs x

  2. Gorgeous card Cara, such vibrant colours, love it. So pleased your appointment got sorted. Have a great week, Angela xxx

  3. Oh wow this is a show stopper! Gorgeous!

  4. Gorgeous . Love the colour combination and swooning over all those butterflies. Hugs Mrs A.

  5. Such a spectacular card. Calling it a "card" is undervaluing its impact. Your post just goes to show how creativity allows an escape from life's troubles.

  6. Ah Cara, wonder if they bother to amend their computer system or will have expected you the next day too.
We get sms reminders here the day before too so that helps me. Well done on having your letter and what a blessing you were in Drs list too. 😊
Great amazing card, so intricate well done!
    Thanks for the inspiration,

  7. WOW this card might have taken you a long time to put together! I don't do time consuming cards nowadays, when I started crafting, it was with all the complicated fold cards, but I have settled down to CAS now.
Lovely purple on your card Cara, hope you are taking good rest after the injections, and will better soon!
I will get the post on your way early next week, I am waiting to gather all the posts together to save my trips to the post office, it is not near my place!

  8. Hi Cara, glad to hear everything went well with the Dr's I'm off for my 1st appointment with similar Dr next week. Totally amazed at your card it is spectacular... enjoy your weekend... Megan

  9. Absolutely gorgeous! I've not made a zig zag card for years, although I have one planned for an upcoming birthday card. I didn't realise you could get a die for them, although being a fairly mathematical type I can usually manage most card shapes with a ruler and a hougie board.
Glad things went well at the doctor.
Had to smile at the comment you left about the number of cards I've been making recently - I suppose I need to really, to justify all my stash shopping. But actually I've just been in the mood for it, motivated by the fact that in just over a week I'm going to an event where I'll be selling my hand made cards in aid of a women's refuge. I took my entire stock to the last meeting, expecting to sell just a few - but I sold out completely and need to make lots more so I will have plenty to offer this time!

  10. Cara, this is absolutely gorgeous! And I didn't realise there was a die on the market either - sits firmly on hands here!

I do hope the hospital visit has given you some relief - and Parsnip says you can shelter under his brolly 'cos there IS a little leak in the tree house roof that he hasn't got round to fixing yet! :)

  11. Hello Cara, pleased things went well at the clinic and that they managed to squeeze you in, and as we all know computers don't make errors, it's the inputter who does.
Anyhow, what a stunning card, I love the shape of it and your papers and colour theme are gorgeous, love it all, Kate x

  12. Hey Cara, glad to see that everything went well with the consultant..nightmare start though! I love your card, it's so wonderfully purple and gold, I want to touch it. I think you should write to tattered lace, I think only having 2 lengths for the inside panels is sucky. Have a great weekend, I am off to the HAC summer ball with my bestie tonight, then flying home (to the sun) tomorrow. Oh and the BBQ last shoes are still wet. Summer you said. Cx

  13. Holy cow Cara, this is incredible!! WOW!! The colours are so dramatic, and I love the metallic accents! What a unique and wonderful design layout, and of course, I adore all the butterflies!! So elegant! hugs :)

  14. Will it stop raining! I'm thinking an ark might be needed. Certainly fed up of wet walks and the wet dog smell this week.
Hope your treatment went well yesterday and you are feeling much better now.
I actually saw these dies on the TV recently and I don't normally watch the craft shows. Your card looks fab, love the purple and gold combo and who doesn't like butterflies?

Enjoy your weekend, hopefully it might even stop raining.

    Hugs Erika. x

  15. This is gorgeous Cara and I really like the colours that you've used. It looks like it must have taken you ages to make it with all the matting and layering. I love the way that the die cut fonts create arch ways over your card, they look fantastic and so do all the butterflies. Have a lovely weekend, Sandra x

  16. Just stunning Cara, wow the color combination and die cuts are fabulous.

    Hugs Diane

  17. Hmmm, "radio frequency nerve lesioning" doesn't sound like much fun, I hope it helps!

Your card is a stunner Cara, it looks like it took aaaaages to make! I'm guessing those butterflies aren't covering a smudge Heee ;)
