Oldie Friday

Happy Friday! Apologies if I've not got round to visiting you yet this week. Time seems to have been in short supply and my neck/arm is playing up making commenting difficult, probably due to shifting stuff around the house. I will catch up with you all soon, you all make such amazing things that I love visiting you all.
As today is Friday it's time to join Erika again to share an old crafting make. I've got a baking oldie to share with you today. A few years ago work decided to have a bake off competition to boost staff engagement. As my colleagues regularly praised my baking I decided to have a go. In hindsight I should have stuck to my tried and tested recipes but I decided to be adventurous and found a recipe off the internet for toffee cupcakes with a toffee sauce filling and toffee buttercream. Hopefully you can make out that I made some tiny red roses out of fondant and piped hearts out of white chocolate to decorate. It doesn't show up too well in the pictures but I sprayed half the hearts lightly with an edible gold shimmer mist and dusted the other half whilst still molten with edible red glitter. Interesting fact - there is apparently no such thing as edible glitter, to be deemed edible it must have some digestible element. Edible glitter is in fact non toxic and passes straight through the body. I always have visions of someone going to the loo and then going "Oooh sparkly!"
Back to the oldie, I came second with my cupcakes to someone who made vanilla cupcakes with strawberries, champagne and fresh cream. I was robbed! Hope you all have a great weekend x

  2. I'm gutted Cara. I was going to call round for a cuppa and now I've just seen that they were made years ago lol ;). I'm with Erika, you made me laugh about the edible glitter. Hope you're feeling better soon. Have a lovely weekend. Crafty hugs, Sandra X

  4. Well they certainly look very impressive and certainly very yummy. You've shattered my illusions - I had a cupcake two weeks ago and thought I'd eaten edible glitter for the first time now you tell me it's not glitter. I didn't NOTICE any sparkle later.

Hope you feel better soon. Hugs, Barbxx
