Less is more - white space that isn't white.

The current challenge over at Less is more is to leave white space which isn't white. I cut down a piece of kraft card with a tattered lace pin dot rectangle and added a sentiment from Walter and Winnie with versamark and white embossing powder. I then added the flowers from Altenew peonies set in the same way. Typically having added the sentiment first I then had to add extra flowers at the top to balance up the card, so I hope there's still enough "white space left" for the challenge. Note to self, add sentiment last in future. I then added colour using spectrum noir pencils. You can scribble over the embossing powder with them and use blending solution to even out the colour, but it will stay on top of the embossing powder, giving it a pastel colour. I simply stuck the card onto a 6" square white card blank to finish.

  5. Hi Cara, thanks for your visit and kind comment. Hopped over to see your lovely LIM card...and became your newest follower. The peony stamp is one I've been trying to own, but it's been out of stock at the places I buy. It's really pretty with the way you've used it on the pale kraft background with the soft lavender colors. Your sentiment looks like fine placement to me, but good idea to add the extra blossom and foliage in the top corner. Just a beautiful card. TFS & Have a good upcoming week.

  15. What tremendous flowers you have used Cara! Super example of non-white 'white space'. Sorry I've not been to your blog as much over the last 12 days or so - I've been away from home ant it has been difficult to comment but I promise I will be around in the next couple of days to catch up on all your creations! Thanks for joining us at Less is More.

  16. Cara this turned out perfect. Isn't it funny I always leave my sentiment decisions till last and end up with not enough room and constantly tell myself sentiment needs to be planned first and you are having the reverse. I totally love this card, love the coloured flower on the kraft, white embossing always does a perfect job.
